The Town of Smithers is seeking quotations from logging contractors for the immediate removal of trees and for property cleanup at the Smithers Airport, with the aim of maximizing revenue from timber sales while adhering to the highest safety and forest management standards.
Project Overview:
Location: Smithers Airport, Smithers, BC
Objective: Remove trees and brush in the protected clearways around the airport as shown on attached map generally outlined in blue.
Timeline: Immediate availability required
Addition work may be added as approvals are attained for the area generally outlined in orange on the attached map.
Scope of Work:
Interested contractors are requested to provide written quotations for the following tasks:
Cutting down, processing, and hauling marketable timber to the point of sale following log buyers’ requirements. Cutting down, mulching, and clearing the area of non-merchantable trees. Raking, piling, and generally cleaning the logged area for ease of future brushing.

The Town of Smithers is seeking an operator for a proposed Ranger Park childcare facility that the Town is proposing to build through the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund Program. The selected service provider will be responsible for operating the proposed child care facility, through a third-party operator and lease agreement. Interested childcare service providers are invited to participate in the Request for Expression of Interest (RFEoI) process. The deadline to respond to this RFEoI is 4:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2024. The goal of the Project is to review the current governance and funding model of the Smithers Regional Airport and assess and recommend a sustainable funding model for the Smithers Regional Airport. The proposal must consider different financial models and recommend and develop a business plan and other relevant material to support the Town and its regional partners in implementing additional regional airport funding.
